25 SFP28 Transceiver Modules

Because of the latest advances in 25G Ethernet speed technologies and the large rise in demand for big bandwidth requirements of cloud and edge data centers and communication service providers has increased. ICT researchers and developers advocated 25 Gigabit Ethernet to satisfy the need for faster connectivity for Internet usage. In reality, the number of 25GbE ports in data center server access ports is increasingly increasing. The 25G transceiver's most common type factor is SFP28. Mechanical requirements for the upgraded standard are based on the 10G SFP+ (Small Form Factor Pluggable) standard. The electrical requirements for the SFP28 transceiver range from 10.312Gbps to one 28Gbps lane with 25Gbps+ error correction. According to the IEEE 802.3by standard, the SFP28 type is the third generation of SFP interconnects systems optimized for 25G efficiency. For 25G transceivers, SFP28 is the uniform pluggable type factor. Its mechanical dimensions are identical to those of 10G SFP+ and 1G SFP. To handle bandwidth for a 25Gbps signal, the electronic layout of 25G was designed to run at up to 28Gbps. Many 25G transceivers today have a cumulative data rate of 25.78125Gbps. SFF is the standards agency that describes SFP28 (Small Form Factor Committee).

Types of 25 SFP28 Transceivers

The 25G SFP28 optical module is primarily used to link servers and switches in data centers. It's a brand-new Ethernet standard with a slew of benefits. IEEE 802.3 Working Group proposed it in July 2014, and it was fully revamped in June 2016. The most significant benefit of 25G Ethernet infrastructure for data centers is that it can increase bandwidth and port density, as well as use 25Gb/s single-channel physical layer technology to support 100Gb data transfer. It can also be the most energy-efficient way to satisfy the increasing demand of the next generation of data center networks.

25G SFP28 SR Transceiver

The 25G SFP SR transceiver is a duplexer 25G transceiver that uses an 850nm wavelength and runs over a pair of multimode fibers (MMF). It's suitable for data center implementations that need up to 100 meters of OM4 fiber interconnect or 70 meters of OM3 fiber interconnect.

25G SFP28 LR Transceiver

A single-mode transceiver, the 25G SFP LR is a single-mode transceiver. It is a duplex optical data communications SFP28 module that enables 25G Ethernet. It has a 20-pin SFP+ connector that allows for hot plugging. I2C is used to access digital monitoring capabilities. The 25G SFP28 LR is a single-mode fiber connector with a marginal wavelength of 1310nm.

25G SFP28 ER Transceiver

A single-mode extended reach transceiver, the 25G SFP ER is a single-mode extended reach transceiver. This SFP28 module is optimized for duplex optical data communications, with 25Gb/s Ethernet access when CDR is enabled and 10G ethernet optical data transmission when CDR is disabled. It has a 20-pin SFP+ connector that allows for hot plugging. I2C is used to access digital diagnosis capabilities. This module works at a nominal wavelength of 1295nm to 1310nm and is optimized for single-mode fiber. The transmitter portion employs a 1310nm multiple quantum DFB laser that complies with International Safety Standard IEC 60825, making it a level 1 laser.

25G SFP28 CWDM Transceiver

It's an SFP28 module that supports duplex optical information transmission up to 25.78 Gb/s. It has a 20-pin SFP+ connector that allows for hot plugging. I2C is used to access digital diagnostic roles. It has a built-in clock as well as data recovery capabilities (CDR). This module runs at a marginal bandwidth of CWDM (12711331nm) and is optimized for single-mode fiber. The 25G SFP CWDM transceiver is a single-mode CWDM transceiver.

25G SFP28 BiDi Transceiver

It is a duplex optical data transmission SFP28 module that allows up to 25.78Gb/s. It has a 20-pin SFP+ connector that allows for hot plugging. I2C is used to access digital diagnostic functions. It has a constructed clock as well as data retrieval capabilities (CDR). This module runs at a nominal wavelength of 1270 / 1330nm and is optimized for simplex fiber. The 25G SFP BiDi transceiver is a bidirectional single-mode transceiver.
